Catherine Chidgey is “one of New Zealand’s greatest living writers” (Radio NZ). Honours include Best First Book at the New Zealand Book Awards and the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize (South East Asia/South Pacific), the Betty Trask Award (UK), the Prize in Modern Letters, the Janet Frame Fiction Prize, and the Jann Medlicott Acorn Prize for Fiction (twice). Sarah Jessica Parker (Sex and the City) shared Pet with her 9.3 million Instagram followers, and CrimeReads said "I never thought I’d find a book to hold up to the contained brilliance of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, but Pet has done that and more."
