Marie Connolly

Throughout her academic career Marie Connolly has written many books relating to child protection systems and how they might better respond to vulnerable children. When she retired in 2019 and returned home to Aotearoa she saw it as a perfect opportunity to diversify her writing. She wrote and published, with illustrator Jenny Lee, six South Island travel books for children in the Our Backyard series. In 2023, she published Friday Film Reviews, a collection of blogs that help separate the film-streaming wheat from the chaff. This year she published her first crime novel, Dark Sky, with Quentin Wilson Publishing. Now on to a sequel, she lives in Akaroa with her partner George.
