Melanie Dixon

Melanie Dixon is an award-winning writer based in Ōtautahi, Christchurch. She writes short-stories, flash fiction and novels for young adults, and has had work published and anthologised internationally including in Best Small Fictions and Best Microfiction, as well as in many literary journals. Her first novel for young adults, A New Dawning, was published by One Tree House in 2023, and was awarded a Storylines Notable Book Award.
Melanie holds a Masters in Creative Writing from the University of Auckland. She tutors at the University of Canterbury and is the current Director of Hagley Writers’ Institute. When she’s not writing or curled up with a book, you can find Melanie planning her next adventure.
